Using the existing building, University Business Center Former Embody Fitness Center in Rochester, NY (1040 University Avenue, Building 3). The design brief called for a unique dual concept experiential dining space which enhances the culinary experience, and engages customers in the interior environment without overwhelming the senses or being cliché. We were assigned to design a primary, sit down dining area and a secondary, quick serve area that shares a kitchen. I chose to center my design ideas around restoring Rochester's history. With close proximity to railroad tracks and iconic street art in Downtown Rochester, I chose to focus the primary dining experience (Rails) on the railroads and the quick serve experience (Fast Tracks) on the subway to attract a wide demographic. Rails Fine Dining restores the classic architecture and dining experience of the Rochester Railroads through a traditional, Victorian style restaurant. Whereas Fast Tracks Grab and Go takes on a more vibrant and contemporary look to restore the absence of the fun and youthful thrills of subway action.
